Using a chameleon to treat magic

10-11-2007 | IslamWeb

Question:

Is it lawful to use a chameleon as a remedy for magic by burning it but not eating any part of it?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Using a chameleon as a remedy for magic is unlawful. This is the practice of magicians and jugglers, whom cannot be held as truthful, and one is not permitted to visit or consult them.

As for burning, this is by all means unlawful, even if done for a lawful purpose such as burning a harmful insect.

Allaah Knows best.
