Question:

I read a Hadeeth indicating that a high-pitched voice is heard on the night of Thursday 14th Ramadhaan and that many evils occur on that night. Is this Hadeeth Saheeh (Sound)?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

In this Hadeeth. the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam , said that if the 14th of Ramadan was a Thursday, then during the night a voice would be heard in the sky - the voice of Jibreel (Gabriel). Due to this voice, 70 thousand people would die, 70 thousand people would become mute, 70 thousand people would become blind, and 70 thousand people would become deaf. Only those who remained in their houses prostrating to Allaah and saying "Allaahu Akbar" (Allaah is Great) in a loud voice would be safe. At-Tabaraani and Ibn Abi ‘Aasim narrated this Hadeeth on the authority of Fayrooz Ad-Daylami.

However, Al-Haythami may Allaah have mercy upon him said that this Hadeeth is Dha‘eef Jiddan (very weak) so it should not be taken as a reliable proof.

Allaah Knows best.
