A Mus-haf was stained by wine

Question:

assalam alaikum.i was in the plane with the holy quran on my lap when the air hostess who was serving wine,by mistake, poured it on me and also on the holy quran.ths was not intentional.i immediately tried scrubbing the quran but i couldnt wipe it.what should i do with ths quran,i feel very guilty,and i cant read ths quran any more.plz advise as soon as you can.jazakumullah khair.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

 

First of all, you should wash the place of the Mus-haf (the Arabic text of the Quran) that is stained by impurity with water. The jurists may Allaah have mercy upon them stated that if an impurity stains the Mus-haf, one should wash it with water even if this leads to spoiling it.

We hope that you are not sinful for what happened because you did not do this willingly, but it was another person who did it.  However, dear sister, you should avoid travelling on planes which carry intoxicants if it is possible for you to travel on other planes, because wine is the mother of all evils and Allaah ordered us to avoid it and the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) forbade us from sitting on a table where intoxicants are being served. If it is possible to travel on other planes, then this is better for your religion. A traveler in such a plane does not know if the wrath of Allaah will descend on the wrongdoers during the flight and he/she will be among them.
