Question:

Assalamu Alaykum,
When Allah SWT raised Jesus PBUH alive to heaven, which heaven was he raised to and how old will he be when he descends back?
Is Jesus PBUH the only prophet who was raised to heaven alive?
Thank you

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

The conclusive opinion about this issue, which is mentioned in the Noble Quran, is that Allaah The Almighty raised ‘Eesa (Jesus) may Allaah exalt his mention to heaven. However, we could not find any text specifying which heaven he was raised to. In the Hadeeth of Al-Israa’ (Prophet’s night journey to Jerusalem), the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, saw ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention in the second heaven. Nevertheless, it is not necessary that this heaven was the one to which ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention was raised.

In fact, no other prophet was reported to have been raised to heaven, like ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention but there is a Hadeeth, which scholars classified as weak, stating that Idrees (Enoch) may Allaah exalt his mention was raised alive to heaven. For further information, refer to Fatwa 87455.

Also, there is no conclusive text showing the age at which ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention will descend to earth. Al-Qurtubi may Allaah have mercy upon him reported that some scholars said that he would descend at the age of thirty-three.

Allaah Knows best.
