Question:

Is it permissible to perform the Farewell Tawaaf two days before I leave Makkah, given that I frequent the Ka‘bah and pray there after the Farewell Tawaaf?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The Farewell Tawaaf is performed after completing all the Hajj rituals and fulfilling all one's needs in Makkah. One is required to immediately leave Makkah after the Farewell Tawaaf unless there is an excuse. This is the preponderant opinion according to the majority of scholars.

An-Nawawi may Allaah have mercy upon him said: “The Farewell Tawaaf should be performed after completing all the Hajj rituals and a pilgrim should immediately leave Makkah after performing it. If he remains in Makkah without an acceptable excuse or for something other than the procedures of departure, such as buying some necessities, paying back a debt, visiting a friend or a sick person, and the like, then he is required to perform Tawaaf again."

Accordingly, you should know that waiting for two days after performing the Farewell Tawaaf entails another Tawaaf.

If a person performs the Farewell Tawaaf and remains in Makkah for two other days and then departs without performing Tawaaf again, then he has abandoned one of the obligations of Hajj.

Therefore, he is required to offer a ransom, which is slaughtering a sacrificial animal.

Allah Knows best.
