Question:

sir we have a pices of kaaba cover cloth kiswa.can we keep in our house

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is permissible for you to keep this piece but you should avoid committing any innovation with it, like seeking blessings from it and the like. Even in case of the Ka’bah itself, it is only permissible to kiss or touch from it what a religious text stated that it is permissible to kiss or touch, this applies to things other than Ka’bah with greater reason.

An-Nawawi may Allaah have mercy upon him said: “Maqaam Ibraaheem should not be kissed or touched, as this is an innovation.”, this is stated by Dr. Naasir Al-Jedee’ in his book entitled “At-Tabarruk: its kinds and rulings”. Dr. Jedee’ said in the conclusion: “Among the newly invented matters is to seek blessings from the Kiswah of [the clothing that covers] the Ka’bah, like kissing it or touching it in any manner, as nothing of this is permitted and no one among the righteous predecessors may Allaah have mercy upon them has ever done this.

Allaah Knows best.
