Question:

Some people feel pessimistic when a person visits them who has just attended a condolence gathering. Is it permissible to feel this way?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Feeling pessimistic when someone visits you after having attended a condolence gathering, is impermissible. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, warned us against pessimism in many authentic narrations. For more information, see Fataawa 91008 and 91474.

Allaah Knows best.
