Prohibited means during Da‘wah

Question:

I heard some songs by a band called "Soldiers of Allaah". When I visited their website, I found that they are not Mujaahideen (Muslim fighters). They explain Islam to non-Muslims through music, but their songs do not contain anything against Islam. Is this way of Da‘wah permissible? Please advise.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

This method of Da‘wah is not allowed because it involves impermissible aspects such as singing and music. When we visited the named website, we saw photos of women who did not abide by the Islamic dress code, which is another evil and impermissible act.

In conclusion, this is not a permissible method for propagating Islam. One should beware of the acts of such people— may Allaah The Almighty guide them to follow the approach of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. They should know that, in Islam, ends do not justify means; and that to worship Allaah both objectives and means must be permissible.

Allaah Knows best.
