Permissible to talk with non-Muslims

Question:

Is it permissible for a Muslim to talk with non-Muslims who do not belong to the People of the Book such as Buddhists, communists and atheists?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

There is no objection to talking with any non-Muslims. However, it is impermissible to stand up for them and support them and harbor feelings of love or compassion towards them.

Allaah Knows best.
