Permissibility of a woman removing the hair under the eyebrows

Question:

What is the Sharee'ah-ruling on a woman removing the hair growing under her eyebrows line?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is permissible for a woman to remove the hair growing under the eyebrow line, since there is no Sharee'ah text forbidding this. Rather, the Sharee'ah texts forbid removing the hair of the eyebrow itself. Therefore, we inform you that it is permissible to remove the extra hair that grows under the eyebrow line, which may extend to the eyelid, for example, or even above it, reaching up to the beginning of the forefront. However, if the eyebrow is very thick and large by nature, yet neither disfigures the face in an unordinary way nor obviously exceeds its natural place, then it is impermissible to remove its hair.

Allaah Knows best.
