Question:

What is the ruling of ordering unveiled women on the street to wear Hijaab?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, is His slave and messenger.

Adhering to Hijab is a divine obligation, and calling people to abide by this command is part of enjoining what is good. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, disassociated himself from anyone who did not enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil. [At- Tirmithi] The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, also swore by Allaah The Almighty that if we do not enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, then Allaah The Almighty would afflict us with His punishment, and He would not respond to our supplications when we ask of Him. [At-Tirmithi]

Allaah Knows best.
