Question:

A while ago I used to listen to music from South Korean singers and they called themselves idols. Now I have clicked on and stopped listening to their music. I made up imaginary people up in my mind years ago and I am worried that nowadays their features may have changed in some way and be taken from those Korean people. Would I be committing shirk if their features are taken from people who are idols?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His Slave and Messenger.

What you have mentioned has absolutely nothing to do with Shirk; they are just obsessive whispers which you should not pay attention to. Rather, you should neglect them totally and seek refuge in Allaah from the accursed devil in order to be safe from him dragging you to undesirable consequences.

Finally, songs and music are a grave danger, so for more benefit in this regard, please refer to Fataawa 81239, 81545 and 129685.

Allaah Knows best.
