Question:

Is it possible to alleviate the torment of the deceased with charity or supplication, even if they were Christians?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is impermissible to supplicate for or offer the reward of good deeds to someone who dies a disbeliever, whether the person was someone close or otherwise

Allaah Knows best.
