Denying the Sunnah is Major Disbelief

What is the misguided sect that acknowledges the Quran only and rejects the Sunnah?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Al-Khawaarij was the sect that considered the Quran only as a source of legislation in the past. Currently, there is a sect called "Al-Qur’aaniyyoon" that holds the same belief. There is a small number of people in some countries who follow this sect which has adopted this belief from the Orientalists and defeated rationalists.

Denying the Sunnah is tantamount to major disbelief because the Sunnah explains the Quran and contains the Sharee‘ah rulings which are not mentioned in the Quran. Whoever believes in the Quran must believe in the Sunnah since Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means):

• {And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from.} [Quran 59:7]

• {He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah.} [Quran 4:80]

• {And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.} [Quran 16:44]

There are numerous verses to this effect.
