One nation, not sects and parties

Question:

The Salafis in my community are divided into two sects: Albani Salafis and Hijazi Salfis!! What should we do?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

The Salafi methodology entails following in the steps of the righteous predecessors of the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them and their successors may Allaah have mercy upon them and imitating their approach to understanding the Quran and Sunnah, and how they applied  them. It is the duty of the Muslim nation to be united around this methodology, not to be divided amongst personal whims.

Shaykh Al-Albaani may Allaah have mercy upon him and the scholars of Hijaaz, may Allaah have mercy upon hem, were always all united - there was never division among them. Although they had different opinions regarding legislative debatable issues, there were no hard feelings among them. Muslims should follow them in this regard.

Muslims should be aware of the intrigues of the devil, who wants Muslims to be divided into sects and parties so that they can earn the anger and wrath of Allaah. Also, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, will disassociate himself from them. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means):

  • {Indeed, those who have divided their religion and became sects- you, [O Muhammad] are not associated with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allaah; then He will inform them about what they used to do.} [Quran 6:159]

Allaah Knows best.
