Question:

Is it permissible for me to go to a person to treat me from an envious evil eye?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds.  I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is permissible under the Sharee‘ah to seek treatment for the effects of an evil eye, including making Ruqyah (healing with the Quran) for yourself or having another person make it for you.  The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, mentioned that Ruqyah is allowed primarily for the treatment of an evil eye and poisoning, because they are extremely dangerous. [Al-Bukhari]

Sharee‘ah-approved Ruqyah is that which is based on Quranic verses, Prophetic supplications, the beautiful names of Allaah The Almighty, and the like. Anything other that this is prohibited, especially if it is incomprehensible.

If the person who treats using Ruqyah abides by Sharee‘ah-approved Ruqyah, then there is no harm in going to such a person.  Although it is recommended that you make Ruqyah for yourself, according to what and how the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, did. It was narrated on the authority of ‘Aa'ishah may Allaah be pleased with her that whenever the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) became sick, he would recite Al-Mu'awwithatayn over himself (Chapter Al-Falaq and An-Naas).  [Ahmad in his Musnad and Al-Bukhari in his Saheeh]

Allaah Knows best.
