Question:

Is there a Hadeeth stating that there was a Companion who drank the urine or blood of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

On the authority of ‘Abdullaah Ibn Az-Zubayr may Allaah be pleased with him and his father, he said that he came to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, while Hijaamah (cupping) was being done to him. When the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was finished he asked him to throw the blood away where no one could see it. ‘Abdullaah took the blood and drank it. When the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, learned about this he told him that he did not order him to do so.

In another narration, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, supplicated to Allaah for him not to be touched by the Hellfire and wiped his head. [Ad-Daaraqutni, Al-Haakim, Al-Bazzaar, Abu Ya‘laa, Abu Nu‘aym, & Al-Bayhaqi] Al-Haythami may Allaah have mercy upon him considered the chain of narrators of this Hadeeth to be a Saheeh (Authentic) one; while Al-Booseeri may Allaah have mercy upon him graded it as having a Hasan (Sound) chain of narrators.

On the authority of ‘Umaymah bint Ruqayqah may Allaah be pleased with her she said that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, used to urinate in a container and put it under his bed. Once he urinated and put it under his bed and when he came back he found the container empty. When he asked an Abyssinian woman called Barakah may Allaah be pleased with her who used to serve him, about the urine which was in the container, she told him that she had drunk it. [Al-Bayhaqi]

In another narration on the authority of Ibn Jurayj may Allaah have mercy upon him the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, supplicated to Allaah The Almighty to grant her health. Consequently, she did not suffer from any illness except the one that preceded her death. [‘Abdur-Razzaaq] Al-Haakim, Ad-Daaraqutni, At-Tabaraani, and Abu Nu‘aym may Allaah have mercy upon them narrated Hadeeths which included this story with similar narrations.

Allaah Knows best.
