Impermissible to play gambling games, even with worthless points

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. So there is this website called Dadice that gives you a free amount of points, say 2,000, and you start gambling with it (you pick a number, if it is correct, then you win, if not, then you lose your initial bet). The rule is that if you can get 10,000 points, you can withdraw the money. If you lose all your points, then they give another 2,000, and so on. Is this halal, knowing that I do not pay anything? (10,000 points is equivalent to 0.2$)

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have already mentioned in fatwa 259897 that it is not permissible to play games that involve gambling, even if this is not real gambling, because this suggests mockery of the verses of Allaah, not glorifying what Allaah has made sacred, and disdaining it. Therefore, it is not permissible to play gambling games, even with worthless, imaginary points.

Hence, it is even more logical that it is not permissible when the points have an actual financial value, as gambling becomes evident in this case. Allaah says (what means): {O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than Allaah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.} [Quran 5:90]

Allaah knows best.
