Refraining from talking to non-Mahram women

Question:

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. I have a question about a fatwa on this website. The question is about fatwa no. 308110 (see the link at the bottom). In that fatwa, you said that it is permissble for a muslim woman to refrain from talking to non-Mahram (permanently unmarriageable) men. Does it mean that it would be permissble if a Muslim man chose not to talk to non-Mahram women ever? Perhaps you will say that when there is a benefit and no Fitnah (temptation) is feared, it would be better to talk to achieve the benefit. Nevertheless, if one still chose not to talk to non-Mahrams ever, would that be permissble? The link for the fatwa is: https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/308110
May Allaah reward you.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

The answer to that previous question applies to your question as well. It is permissible for a man to refrain from talking to non-Mahram women, even if what he says does not involve any prohibitions.

If there is a real need or a Sharee'ah-acceptable benefit for talking to non-Mahram women and there is no fear of Fitnah (temptation) or arousal of doubts, then it is better not to refrain from talking to them in such a case in order to attain the Sharee'ah-acceptable benefit. Moreover, talking to them may be obligatory in some cases, as in case of necessity.

Allaah knows best.
