Aaminah bint Wahb died at twenty

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum. I want to know what the age of Aaminah, the mother of Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, was when she died?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Some biographers and historians reported that Aaminah bint Wahb – the mother of our Prophet – died while she was only approximately twenty years old.

The book Musta’athab Al-Ikhbaar bi Atyab Al-Akhbaar, authored by Al-Faasi reads, “His [Prophet’s] mother died while she was nearly twenty years old while returning from Al-Madeenah, [she died] in Al-Abwaa’ which is a place between Makkah and Madeenah.”

As regards his father, ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib, he died at the age of twenty-five years old. Al-Waaqidi said, “This is the most confirmed view regarding the death of ‘Abdullah [father of the Prophet], as stated in At-Tabaqaat, which was authored by Ibn Sa’d.”
