Whether mispronouncing Inshaa' Allaah is Kufr or not

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum. I know that it is prescribed to say Inshaa' Allaah (Allaah willing). However, if a person says Ishaa'Allaah instead of saying Inshaa'Allaah, would this amount to disbelief? If any of the Arab brothers in the fatwa centre could please explain to me what this means, I would greatly appreciate it. The reason why I am asking is because I heard my mom say this. Please reply ASAP, Brothers. Also, if it is not disbelief, then would one be sinful for saying Ishaa'Allaah? May Allaah reward you.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

The fact that your mother pronounces Inshaa' Allaah wrong by merging the 'n' sound with the 'sh' sound is at most a mistake in pronunciation. It may happen because of talking fast or being a non-Arab or the like. She bears no sin for that, let alone that it would be considered disbelief. She should simply be taught the correct pronunciation, and whoever teaches her will be rewarded for it.

You should know, our dear Brother, that Takfeer (declaring a Muslim to be a disbeliever) is not an easy matter, especially when realizing the consequences of disbelief, including his staying in Hellfire eternally in the Hereafter. There are also consequent rulings pertaining to the worldly life, such as the annulment of his marriage to his Muslim wife, denial of his rights to inheritance given the difference of religion, as well as the rulings related to whether his life and wealth are protected by the Sharee'ah or not. It is a very serious matter that must not be taken lightly.

Even if a Muslim commits an act of disbelief, he is not declared a disbeliever unless he is educated about the ruling of that act beyond the excuse of ignorance. Also, all the conditions of declaring someone a disbeliever must be met, and the impediments of that must also be absent. A Muslim whose Islam is established with certainty cannot be judged otherwise except with certainty. Please, refer to fataawa 8106 and 87963 about the rules for Takfeer.

Allaah knows best.
