Following Hanafi school regarding pardoned amount of impurity

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum, Shaykh. My question is that according to the Hanafi school, if the Najasat (impurity: menstruation, urine, and so on) is equal to one dirham, then it can be ignored/tolerated, so can I follow this opinion? I have a problem of Waswasah (devilish whispering) or OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) regarding purity, so I think that it would be a lot easier for me if I could follow this opinion of the Hanafis as it will help me get rid of Waswasah, which has made my life miserable. I have to keep checking if there are any traces of impurities or spend a long time in the bathroom washing my self and I keep changing my clothes. I am tired of doing this on a daily basis. Please answer me and pray for me.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

If following the view of this school helps you avoid Waswasah (obsessive whispering) and overcome it, then there is no harm on you in following it. The person who suffers from Waswasah may follow the easiest and least stringent school for him in order to relieve himself of hardship and difficulty, and this is our chosen view at Islamweb.

Allah knows best.
