Taking interest-based loan to perform Hajj

Question:

Can Hajj be performed by taking a loan form a GPF fund, which is interest-based?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is not permissible to borrow money with interest in order to perform Hajj because interest is one of the grave major sins.

Jaabir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “Allah has cursed the one who consumes interest, the one who gives it to others, the one who records it. and the one who witnesses it.” He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) added, “All of them are equal in sin.” [Muslim]

Allah enjoined Hajj on whoever is able to perform it, and whoever does not have the expenses of Hajj is not able, and it is not permissible for him to commit what Allah has forbidden in order to perform Hajj.

For more benefit on the prohibition of borrowing money with interest, please refer to fatwa 131687.

Allah knows best.
