Fasting the entire month of Rajab is not a Sunnah act

Question:

Is it permissible to fast the month of Rajab?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

It is permissible to observe fasting on any of the months of the year. However, the Hadeeths and traditions that suggest the excellence of  the month of Rajab are judged as weak, according to Muslim scholars of Hadeeth. In fact, based on authentic reports attributed to the Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, it is more appropriate for a Muslim to fast on days on which fasting is recommended. Examples include Mondays, Thursdays, three days in each month, the Day of ‘Aashooraa’ (i.e. the tenth of Muharram), and the first ten days of Thul-Hijjah.

Allah Knows best.
