Donating book with cross-section drawings of private parts

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. What is the ruling on cross section drawings of private parts? I am donating a biology book to the school library, and I am hiding the pictures of women as well as those containing the ‘Awrah (what should be covered of the body) of men. I am not sure whether to hide cross section drawings of private parts, sometimes the internal structure of the ‘Awrah is shown within a picture. Please advise.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We advise you to donate such a book due to the benefit that this may provide. As for the cross-section drawings of the private parts, this does not prevent donating the book, and there is no need to hide it in the first place since it is not a religious violation to draw the internal structure of human organs. This does not cause harm and does not arouse sexual desire or so, especially given that these drawings are used for the purpose of learning and the like.

Allah knows best.
