How people of Shu‘ayb were destroyed

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum. I was just wondering; did the people of Shu‘ayb build homes in or from mountains like Thamood? The Quran says that they were destroyed in the same way.
Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

After careful research, we could not find any text regarding the houses of the people of Shuʻayb. As for the way in which they were destroyed, Allah sent different types of destructive punishment, which Ibn Katheer may Allaah have mercy upon him mentioned in his book Al-Bidaayah wa An-Nihaayah, upon them. He said, "Allah afflicted them with various punishments given their hideous traits and sins. He sent a violent shake that stopped all movement, an overwhelming Sayhah (cry) that silenced all voices, and a dark gloomy cloud hurling thunderbolts and fire in all directions upon them. But Allah, the Exalted, mentioned the kind of punishment that suits the context of each soorah about them in each soorah." [Al-Bidaayah wa An-Nihaayah, 1/210]
