Question:

Assalamualikum wa rahmatullahi wabarakaatuhThere is a book and has an eye of a crocodile only (but not other body parts) on the cover page, should I cover the eye??

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The image of the entire head does not take the ruling of forbidden imaging. So, it is with greater reason that the eye alone is not included in this prohibition.

Al-Bahooti from the Hanbali School of jurisprudence said in his book KashShaaf Al-Qinaa’: “If he draws a head separate from its body, or if he draws a head without the body, then there is no prohibition in this, as this is not included in the prohibition.” [End of quote]

Accordingly, you are not obliged to blur or cover the image of the eye that you mentioned.

Allah knows best.
