Despaired that His Supplication is not Answered

Question:

Hello I sent you a question yesterday and thank you for responding but sorry to say I didn't really understand your answer from the fatwas you sent me so I'm asking the question again. I haven't committed the major sins but I do commit some Minor sins as everyone does however when I make dua I feel as though Allah won't answer my dua due to my sins. Please advise me.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we advise you to sincerely repent to Allah from all sins. Know that a person may think that a major sin is a minor sin because of his ignorance and lack of (Islamic) knowledge. Also, he may continue in committing a minor sin which leads him to committing a major sin.

One may also get addicted to committing a minor sin and persist in doing it, which makes it take the same ruling of a major grave sin (because of his persistence).

Hence, you should avoid becoming deserving of the Wrath of Allah and repent to Him from all sins.

However, no matter how grave your sins are, this should not prevent you from supplicating Allah and seeking His forgiveness, because Allah is the Most Merciful.

First, you should supplicate Allah to make you firm on guidance and prevents you from what displeases Him. Then persist in supplicating Allah earnestly while thinking good of Him and being sincere to Him in your intention. You should choose the best times to supplicate, times when supplications are most likely to be answered. Supplicate Allah while humbling yourself to Him and while having an attentive heart and being sure that your supplication will be answered. If you do all of this, your supplication will be answered, Allah willing.

You should not get burdened and abandon supplicating even if your supplications do not get answered or are delayed, as you are, undoubtedly, gaining by supplicating continuously. Allah will either respond to your supplication, or repel harm as much as your supplication, or reward you for it on the Day of Resurrection.

However, you must be careful of mistrust in Allah and thinking bad of Him, as this is one of the devastating destructive matters, and know that Allah will be for the person as he expects Him to be for him.

Allah knows best.
