Perilous repercussions

Question:

I am sorry for this inquiry: is it permissible for two spouses to film their own sexual intercourse so as to enhance their sexual desires, on the condition that they encrypt the disk of that video, which is called digital photography, and no one can have access to its content?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is possible that others might watch the video of the sexual intercourse with your wife even if the disk was fully encrypted; since codes can be broken. Numerous codes that were created by countries and agencies have been broken. Furthermore, Muslim scholars have pointed out that it is unfavorable for the spouses to see each other’s private parts or even their own private parts. In addition, some Muslim scholars believe that unnecessary photography is impermissible, and what you referred to is not a valid need. Besides, in general, it is better and more prudent to shun any potential perilous repercussions.

Allaah Knows best.
