Permissibility for women to pray with their jewelry

1-9-2015 | IslamWeb

Question:

Is it permissible for a woman to adorn herself and pray in her jewelry? Is her prayer valid if the rattling of her jewelry is heard during the prayer?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is permissible for a woman to adorn herself and pray while wearing her jewelry. This does not affect the validity of her prayer. However, she is neither allowed to expose her adornments in front of non-Mahram (permanently unmarriageable) men nor to let the sound of her jewelry be heard by them, whether during or outside the prayer.  Also, she is not permitted to go out to the Masjid while wearing anklets that make sounds or wear anything that is likely to cause Fitnah (temptation), whether it is clothes or other adornments.

Allaah Knows best.
