Question:

If one misses 3 rakats in a 4 rakat salah how can he offer the misses 3 rakats ofsalah

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If a person is preceded in prayer behind the Imam and he missed three Rak'ahs, and he only joined the Imam during the last Rak'ah, then he should stand up after the Imam says Salaam (concludes the prayer) and pray one Rak'ah which will be the second one for him. In this Rak'ah, he should recite Al-Faatihah and one Soorah, then he performs Rukoo’ (bowing) and stand up from Rukoo’ and then prostrate two prostrations, and sit for Tashahhud. After Tashahhud he should stand up and pray two consecutive Rak'ahs whereby he should only recite Al-Faatihah, then sit and recite the Tashahhud and send blessings and exalt the mention of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and then he should conclude (the prayer) by saying Salaam while turning to his right-hand side, and another Salaam while turning to his left-hand side. By this he completes and concludes his prayer.

Allah knows best.
