Question:

I am a young man studying in a secondary school that is riddled with corruption. Most of the students blaspheme Allaah The Almighty and the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and none of them pray or adopt good manners. I fear that I might be affected by that bad atmosphere for I do not have a good companion there. What should I do?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

First of all, we ask Allaah The Almighty to keep us all firm on the right path and to help us obey Him. You must try to find yourself another school with good people instead of this corrupt school.

Moreover, you must beware of mixing or socializing with such people because there is no goodness in the one who blasphemes Allaah The Almighty or the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, unless he hastens to repent truthfully to Allaah The Almighty. According to the scholars’ consensus, anyone who insults Allaah The Almighty, His religion or His Messenger becomes an apostate, whether he does this seriously or jokingly, and the same ruling applies to mockery  and ridicule.

Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And if you ask them, they will surely say, "We were only conversing and playing." Say, "Is it Allaah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?" Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals.} [Quran 9:65-66]

For further information, please refer to Fatwas No: 1327 and 9880.

Therefore, we advise you to keep away from such people and try to find yourself righteous friends and colleagues. You will find them, Allaah willing. Moreover, you must seek help from Allaah The Almighty and you have to know that you are strong by your adherence to your religion and your adoption of good morals and you will find those who will support you in the way of the truth, Allaah willing.

Allaah Knows best.
