Direly Needs to Borrow Money with Riba

Question:

Can I get loan for a short period from Bank by giving interest as I am in urgent need of money?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Riba (interest and/or usury) is one of the great major sins that lead one to destruction. A person is not permitted to resort to it unless he is in dire necessity. The necessity that allows one to deal with Riba is when he reaches the point that if he does not deal with Riba, he will perish or about to perish.

Based on this, it is not permissible for you to borrow money with Riba unless you are in a necessity that is Islamically valid. However, if you reach the necessity that permits dealing with Riba, then, in this case, you may borrow only an amount that will suffice your dire need.

If a person undertakes the lawful means to obtain money, Allah will make it easy for him as Allah promised those who fear Him to make a way out for them and to provide them from where they do not expect.
