Wants to Draw a Red Spot on Her Forehead

Question:

I want to put bindi(small red dot) on my forehead just for me so is it permissible/allowed in Islam?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

What we know about this sign is that it is a logo specific to the Hindus who draw it on their foreheads and no one else draws it, and that it has a relation to their false beliefs. They paint it on their foreheads claiming that it prevents energy from coming out from that point which they think it is the place of its exit.

They believe that with the presence of this spot, concentration improves and a person controls his thinking and that they have more luck and that a person is protected from demons.

Since this mark is one of the characteristics of the Hindus, then it is not permissible for a Muslim to draw it on his forehead, even if he did not intend by drawing it what they intended, because of the apparent resemblance to them in drawing it. It is authentically reported from the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) that he said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” [Abu Dawood]

Allah Knows best.
