Question:

i am a devoted muslim always trying to avoid Riba. but i found out that my fiancée was born and raised with riba money. can that affect our offsprings, purity of my rizq? can I still marry her??

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu`alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

In case this girl is religiously committed, righteous and steadfast to showing obedience to Allah, the Exalted, there is no harm upon you if you get married to her. This is evidenced by the agreed-upon Hadeeth narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “Select the pious, may you be blessed!” As for the point that she was raised with usurious money, this does not constitute a valid, legal excuse for not marrying her. So, if she is pious and righteous, get married to her and don’t take these whispers into account. Meanwhile, we draw your attention to the importance of making Istikhaarah as to getting married to her, since it incurs Allah’s Guidance upon the action to be done. See Fatwa 81434 on Istikhaarah.

Allah knows best.
