Conditions for women practicing Da‘wah

Question:

Some women from my family, together with other girls, want to go out for Da‘wah to our neighbours and other women in the neighbourhood, calling them to Allaah. Is this a correct means of Da‘wah? If it is correct, what is your advice to them? If not, what is a suitable means for practicing Da'wah?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Da'wah to Allaah is the mission of the Prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention, and it is the best of deeds, for Allaah Says (what means): {And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allaah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."}[Quran 41:33]

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that guiding a single person is better than possessing a large amounts of wealth. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

In Islam, there is no distinction between men and women - both have the obligation of Da'wah, except where women's special characteristics are concerned. Consequently, it is permissible for these women from your family and the other girls to practice Da'wah, provided they follow the Sharee'ah guidelines and fulfil their other obligations (towards their homes, husbands…etc.)

For more benefit on the general rules for Da'wah, please refer to Fatwa 84348.

Allaah Knows best.
