Question:
A man proposed. He doesn't earn well yet. prays in the masjid. I try to practice deen. He promises to help me in my deen. (No suitor gets my religious boundaries) After istikhara I came to know he smokes. Earlier he denied. He has smoked max 30 times, not a habit. He swore he wouldn't smoke again. He is changing issues in his character.Should I proceed? I'm almost 28 years old and don't get good proposals.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad
is His slave and Messenger.
As long as this suitor has religion and morals in general, and he promised to help you stay upright, and he is not accustomed to smoking, but he does it at different times; we see no problem in marrying him, while taking care to advise him to avoid smoking, whether a lot or a little.
Allah knows best.
