All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Indeed, the morning and evening supplications are among the greatest prescribed means by which Allah protects a person; his own self, his family, and his wealth. They are part of a comprehensive protection that guards against evils, calamities, and hardships. The protection of wealth has been affirmed in the hadith of Ibn ʿUmar (
both). He said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) would never abandon these supplications when evening came or when morning came:
“Allāhumma innī as’aluka al-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyata fī ad-dunyā wal-ākhirah. Allāhumma innī as’aluka al-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyata fī dīnī wa dunyāya wa ahlī wa mālī. Allāhumma’stur ʿawrātī, wa āmin rawʿātī. Allāhumma’ḥfadhnī min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfī, wa ʿan yamīnī, wa ʿan shimālī, wa min fawqī, wa aʿūdhu biʿadhamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī.”
Translation:
O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and in my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me; and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being harmed from beneath me.
