Question:

What is the authenticity degree of the Hadeeth in which the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that merchants will be considered dissolute on the Day of Judgment, except for the righteous and the truthful among them

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Rifaa'ah ibn Raafi' may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that he went out with the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, to the mosque and he saw people engaged in trade transactions. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, called them and told them that merchants would be considered dissolute on the Day of Judgment, except for the who are Allaah conscious (while dealing in trade) and the truthful amongst them. [At-Tirmithi, Ibn Hibbaan and Al-Haakim]  This is an authentic narration.

Allaah Knows best.
