Is fasting invalidated if water reaches the throat while performing ablution?

Question:

One day, in Ramadan, while making ablution for prayer, I felt a drop of water going through my throat. This happened while sniffing (water in the nose). Nevertheless, I quickly forced out this drop of water. Was my fast valid or should I make up for the day?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

The validity of one's fast is not affected if water unintentionally reaches the throat while rinsing the mouth and the nose for ablution. With greater reason, one’s fast is valid if one merely doubts whether or not the water, in such a situation, reached his throat. That being said, your fast is valid, particularly given that you forced the water out.

Allaah Knows best.
