The man better than Al-Mahdi

Question:

Who is better the one who goes out from Al-Madinah to face Anti Christ and is killed or Al-Mahdi himself?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Al Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Abu Said: Allah's Apostle told us a long narrative about Ad-Dajjal, and among the many things he mentioned, was his saying, "Ad-Dajjal will come and it will be forbidden for him to pass through the entrances of Medina. He will land in some of the salty barren areas (outside) Medina; on that day the best man or one of the best men will come up to him and say, 'I testify that you are the same Dajjal whose description was given to us by Allah's Apostle .' Ad-Dajjal will say to the people, 'If I kill this man and bring him back to life again, will you doubt my claim?' They will say, 'No.' Then Ad-Dajjal will kill that man and bring him back to life. That man will say, 'Now I know your reality better than before.' Ad-Dajjal will say, 'I want to kill him but I cannot.' "
Al Hafidh Ibn Hajjar in Al Fath said that some scholars believe that this man is Al Khadir (May Allah bless him).
If this saying is true so this man is better than Al Mahdi because, from the most preponderant opinion of the scholars, Al Khadir is a prophet and Al Mahdi is undoubtedly not a prophet but one of the Muslim Ummah.
But if this man is not Al Khadir and this is most probable opinion as it is proved by the scholars that Al Khadir is no longer alive,(for more details please refer to question no: 5280) we have no evidence to prove who is better between the man who will come to the al-Dajjal and get killed as mentioned in the above Hadith and Al Mahdi.
Allah knows best.
