All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad
  is His slave and Messenger.
The rules concerning wearing gold are not mentioned in the Noble Quran but they are mentioned in the Prophetic Hadeeth. Know that what is prohibited by the Prophet
is the same as the prohibition made by Allah. Allah Says (what means):
• {And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.} [Quran 59:7]
• {He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.} [Quran 4:80]
The Prophet
said: “Let it be known that what the Prophet prohibits is just as what Allah Prohibits.” [At-Tirmithi]
However, the evidence of the prohibition of men wearing gold is mentioned in the Hadeeth.
‘Ali
  narrated that the Prophet
took silk and held it in his right hand, and took gold and held it in his left hand and said: “Both of these are prohibited to the males of my Ummah (nation).” [Abu Daawood, Ibn Maajah and An-Nasaa-i]
Imam Ahmad also narrated it in his book al-Musnad.
Moreover, Abu Moosa Al-Ash’ari
  narrated that the Prophet
said: “Wearing silk and gold has been made unlawful for the males of my Ummah and lawful for their females.” [At-Tirmithi]
Imam An-Nawawi
said: “Wearing a gold ring is prohibited for a man according to the consensus of Muslim scholars.”
