Bride Performing Tayammum Instead of Ablution

23-4-2002 | IslamWeb

Question:

Is it allowed for the bride to make Tayammum instead of Wudu when she prays Sunnah with her husband on their wedding night?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is not allowed to perform Tayammum instead of ablution to perform any kind of prayer as long as water is available and one can use it.

Allah Says (what means): {… and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it.} [Quran 5:6]

The above-mentioned verse states clearly that it is not permitted to perform Tayammum as long as one finds water.

Know that keeping bride's adornment does not constitute a reason for Tayammum.
