Wearing Qur'anic verses

Question:

There is a person who writes Qur'anic Ayahs and gives it people. Can we wear it?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Know that what is written on paper or clothes, and then hanged or worn, is of two kinds:
1) Tamaem (amulets): an object such as bones, beads and so on worn in the belief that it will protect one from the evil eye or against evil in general. Such an action is strictly Haram and is a form of non-Islamic behavior. Then, if one believes that an amulet may bring good or return harm, with the exclusion of Allah, this constitutes a major Shirk (polytheism). But, if he believes that such amulet brings safety against the evil eye or protects from the Jinn, then this is a form of minor Shirk.
In this vein, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "al-Ruqa (i.e. that include Shirk), al-Tamaem and al-Tiwala (a form of magic) are forms of Shirk" [ Ahmad and Abu Dawood ].
2) Qur'anic Tamaem: There is disagreement among scholars concerning wearing them. The correct opinion is that is Haram to use them, according to Ibn Masoud and Ibn Abbas (Radiya Allahu Anhuma). Also, this opinion is understood from the sayings of Huzaifa , Uqba Ibn Amar and Ibn Akim .
This opinion is based on:
1) Generalization of prohibition.
2) Depending on the principle: 'what is conductive to Haram, is itself Haram'.
3) Wearing such Tamaem causes degradation of them since one may answer the call of nature while hanging them.
