Question:

Sheikh al-Albani checked lot of books including Bukhari and Muslim? In his checking of Bukhari and Muslim, any weak Ahadith came into light. I want only the opinion of Sheikh al-albani please.

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. The Muslim Ummah unanimously agrees upon the authenticity of al-Bukhari and Muslim , the two most authentic books of Hadith (Prophet's tradition), except for a few Ahadith that were criticized by some Huffath (Hadith scholars) such as Ad-Daraqutni and others. All of the Ahadith narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim are absolutely authentic except for those few ones which were exposed to criticism. Al-Albani meticulously studied those criticized Ahadith and came to the conclusion that some of them are weak. He said, commenting on the explanation of 'Al-Baa'ith al-Hadith' by Ahmad Shaakir : I have studied many of them and found out that some of them are weak and that they were also ruled as so by many of the knowledgeable scholars of later generations, such as Ibn Taymiyah and others . Yet, we have to state that those Ahadith which were put to criticism were so few in comparison to the great abundance of Ahadith included in these two books (al-Bukhari and Muslim). Those scholars who were critical upon those few Ahadith were refuted by Ibn Hajar in the introduction of 'Fat'h Al-Baari', and by Imam An-Nawawi in 'Sharh Muslim' and proved that the two Imams, al-Bukhari and Muslim (may Allah have mercy on them), were right and those who criticized them were wrong. Sheikh Muqbil al-Waadi 'e also defended Imam Muslim in his book entitled 'Imam Muslim vs. Ad-Daraqutni'. Allah knows best.
