Can't have children but wants to marry

Question:

Due to a serious medical problem at 18 year old I had to have a Hysterectomy. I have read some where that due to being infertile I am unable to marry. What is the ruling on this?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

There is no objection for a sterile person, whether a man or a woman, to get married.

However, she has to inform the other party who wants to marry him/her, because concealing this fact is considered as cheating and the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) forbade that.

It might be that the other party wants to get married to have children, as this is one of the most important purposes of marriage.

Being sterile is not one of the criteria by which a person refuses to marry the other party according to the people of knowledge.  However, they all agreed in forbidding cheating and deception.

Anyway, there is no harm for you to get married, but you have to let your husband know about your condition before he gets married to you so that he will be fully aware of it.

Allah knows best.
