Question:

I have been married for six years now and I have been having problems in my marriage to the point that I want to leave my husband. My husband has been telling me now for two years that I have been cheating on him and whenever I tell him that I never cheated on him he does not believe me, he even made the swear on the Qur'an but still he does not believe me. Please help me because I do not want to destroy my marriage because I have kids who depend on us.

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

We advise you to be patient, to take time and not to think about separating from your husband.  Try your best to get his trust and spare no effort to remind him of Allah and of the fact that suspicions without any sound reason are forbidden in Shariah.

Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins….}[49:12].

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Beware of suspicion since it is a false act'. Hence, suspicion that is based on imagination, doubts and false sense of pride leads to the destruction of family life.

On the other hand, we advise you to look into your behavior with your husband, correct any area that is leading to this suspicion; it might be due to your negligence of Hijab or not showing love and affection to your husband, etc.

Finally, if your husband continues on his suspicions then you may consult Muslim scholars in your area who will help you solve this problem.

Allah knows best.
