Using the hair of the Prophet to get cured

Question:
Please let me know your verdict in the following case: a Muslim brother here gave me a bottle with water in which there were some hairs. He told me that this was hair from Muhammad (Sallalahu-Alaihu-Wa-Sallam) and if I drink that water then I will be protected from sickness. I personally find it to be Bid'ah. But I would like to know your fatwa.
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
There is no doubt that it is permissible to seek blessings from the hair of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). There are many evidences in this regard.
Imam Muslim reported in his Sahih that Anas Ibn Malik said that "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) came to Mina and threw the Jamrah (stones) then went to his house in Mina and sacrificed, then he told a hairdresser: "Take from my hair and he pointed to the right side of his head, then pointed to the left side of his head, and then he gave it to the people." In another narration he gave it to Umm Sulaim, may Allah be pleased with her, and in another narration, he gave it to Abu Talha, the husband of Umm Sulaim. So, this is evidence that it is permissible to seek blessings from the hair of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam).
But who can prove today 1500 years of the period of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) that it is his hair?
Telling lies and charlatanism is widespread in this century. So where is the correct evidence about this claim? If we believe anybody who says lies then charlatanism will be more widespread than ever.
Therefore our view is that it is not permissible to use that hair to get blessings. Even if it is permissible to seek blessings from the hair of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), this does not imply that if someone drinks water in which there is such hair he will never get sick.
Anyway, saying that this is the hair of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is a claim that needs an evidence, and saying that whoever drinks that water will never get sick is a pure lie even if we admit that it is really the hair of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam).
