Question:

Is there a Hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, which states that the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, Allaah in one of his dreams in the shape of a young man with gold bangles in his arms?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

You probably mean the narration reported by At-Tabaraani may Allaah have mercy upon him which was narrated by Um At-Tufayl may Allaah be pleased with her that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) saw his Lord in the image of a young man wearing golden shoes. The scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them consider that this is a weak narration. Imaam Ash-Shawkaani may Allaah have mercy upon him said about this narration: 'This is a fabricated narration, and the narrators in the chains of the narrators are fabricators, liars and unknown people.'

Ibn Habbaan may Allaah have mercy upon him said: 'This is a Munkar narration [a narration which goes against another authentic narration plus being reported by a weak narrator].' However, there is no mention of the gold bangles in His Arms as the questioner stated.

However, it is confirmed that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) saw his Lord in a dream. In a narration reported by At-Tirmithi may Allaah have mercy upon him the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "I saw my Lord in the best picture and He told me: "O Mohammad!" I replied: 'Labayka wa sa'dayka' (Here I am O Allaah in response to Your Call, here I am trying to please You." Allaah responded: "What are the chiefs (angels) on high dispute and discuss about (the creation of Aadam)?..."

So this was a dream and there was no mention of gold bangles as mentioned in the question.

Allaah knows best.
