Consummating marriage in Ramadan

14-6-2006 | IslamWeb

Question:

Thanks so much for all you are doing. I need to know something urgently. Is it allowed in Islam to have Nikaah in Ramadhaan?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

There is no harm in marrying in Ramadan, and this is permissible in principle but one should avoid committing anything that might make his fasting void.

For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 84129 on what a husband should avoid when fasting.

Allaah Knows best.
